Who am I?

My name is Amelia Merrill and this is my second year here at ECU. I transferred from Beaufort Country Community College a year ago and have my Associate in Arts degree. I am from Bath, North Caroline. The view from my home in Bath below. I have two cats Dixie and Misty who I had to leave at home when I moved to Greenville. I am 21 years old and live with my fiancĂ© Ben Hudson here in Greenville at the College Park apartments on 10th street near the ECU campus. It took some time and two other ideas to finally decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. I never thought that someone like me who is quiet and deals with anxieties on a daily basis could achieve as much as I have and I hope to do my students proud one day. My want to become an Elementary Education teacher is to enrich the minds of the next generation. I was not the best student in my time in school. The teachers overlooked me as unimportant and I began to see myself that way as well. I began to stop trying my best on assignments because I never felt pushed to do better. I want to help those students who are quiet and left by themselves during group activities and to make sure that they don't get left behind. Sometimes I feel as if learning and going to school to become an elementary school teacher is the more challenging part. Only because I think that after the first year of teaching all that needs to be turned in is the objective and activity for the day rather than a five page long lesson plan. Yet, I understand why we need to be doing all the long hand because our teachers need to understand that we know the material and that we know how to write a lesson plan as well as teach one to a class without difficulty. It is understandable that there will be mistakes and times where you will not be able to answer a student's question and that is okay. Somehow there is this persona that "teachers know everything" and that is beyond the truth because us teachers in training and teachers still have times where a question is asked but we have no answer. All there is to know about me is that I am a teacher in training that has anxiety issues and who also needs to find her playground voice in order to be heard. I am overcoming person who needs to accomplish one thing good in her life to feel better about herself. Becoming a teacher may be the most rewarding thing any could want to be.

You are right! Teacher do NOT know everything. A good teacher never stops learning, especially if they teach technology.
